Dentons has strengthened its office in Hungary with the recruitment of Balázs Csuday, a former Hungarian ambassador, as Senior Counsel. He joins Dentons’ regulatory practice in Budapest, and will substantially enhance its capabilities in public affairs, statutory compliance and regulation, the law firm said in a press release sent to the Budapest Business Journal.

Csuday has considerable experience in representing and advising the most senior levels of the Hungarian government, Hungarian and multinational corporations, and the European Union, in various international contexts, Dentons says.

He was previously director of public sector and government relations at PwC in Budapest. Prior to that, he served in the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary with the Permanent Mission of Hungary to the UN and Other International Organizations in Vienna. Also, as ambassador, he was responsible for opening the Hungarian Embassy in Quito, Ecuador.

Csuday was educated at the Faculty of Law at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) in Budapest, the Diplomatic Academy of Complutense University in Madrid, and the School of Law at Fordham University, New York.

“It is a pleasure and an honor to welcome Balázs Csuday to our team,” said István Réczicza, Hungary managing partner at Dentons. “His experience at the highest level of international regulatory development and public affairs adds considerable weight and experience to our capabilities in these areas. His appointment also underlines the contribution of our Budapest office to the legal environment in Hungary and across the entire region.”
