Diego Rango dʼAragona took over in May at the Hungarian branch of sports retail company Decathlon. He succeeds Gábor Pósfai in the position, who headed the Hungarian business for seven years and will now be responsible for building the Austrian market for Decathlon.
The 46-year-old dʼAragona, born in Turin, graduated from the trade and marketing department at the University of Turin and has been working at Decathlon since 1995, including postings in France and Germany.
In his new position as country manager in Hungary, he is planning to focus more on online sales.
"In Hungary, Decathlon is the market leader with a 35% market share, but there are always areas to develop," dʼAragona says. "Hungary is a small country, but it plays an important role at corporate level. Potential [to grow] is still there, especially with the advancement of online sales, which we pay close attention to. With omnichannel, we can be market leaders, if we are well prepared for it, but we still have to develop a lot. The most important goal for us is to provide our users with all the support and options on all platforms and sales channels."
DʼAragona has moved to Budapest with his Hungarian partner and their six-month-old boy.
