Žilnik film screening and public talk at Blinken OSA

Social

The Vera and Donald Blinken Open Society Archives of the Central European University (CEU) is set to hold a screening of Serbian director Želimir Žilnikʼs film "Early Works," followed by a public talk, on Wednesday, September 12.

The film will be shown with English subtitles, and the public talk will also be held in English, moderated by research fellow Oksana Sarkisova.

"Early Works" recounts a story of young people who took part in the student demonstrations in June 1968 in Belgrade, and won the Golden Bear at the 19th Berlin International Film Festival in 1969. Žilnik is one of the most prominent figures of the Yugoslav Black Wave film movement of the 1960s and 1970s, portraying issues of society in communist Yugoslavia in a critical way, with dark humor.

Address: Galeria Centralis / Vera and Donald Blinken Open Society Archives, 1051 Budapest, Arany János u. 32. The event starts at 6 p.m.

SUPPORT THE BUDAPEST BUSINESS JOURNAL

Producing journalism that is worthy of the name is a costly business. For 27 years, the publishers, editors and reporters of the Budapest Business Journal have striven to bring you business news that works, information that you can trust, that is factual, accurate and presented without fear or favor.
Newspaper organizations across the globe have struggled to find a business model that allows them to continue to excel, without compromising their ability to perform. Most recently, some have experimented with the idea of involving their most important stakeholders, their readers.
We would like to offer that same opportunity to our readers. We would like to invite you to help us deliver the quality business journalism you require. Hit our Support the BBJ button and you can choose the how much and how often you send us your contributions.
