The national day of Hungary, August 20, is celebrated every year with many events in Budapest. One is the Festival of Folk Arts (Mesterségek Ünnepe), a series of concerts and a craft fair.

From August 17 to 20, the biggest folk arts festival in Hungary, the Festival of Folk Arts, will be organized in Buda Castle. The festival, which evokes the ambience of old-time fairs, is the yearʼs long-expected family event where visitors can try their hand at folk crafts and admire the splendid artwork of skilled craftsmen.

A full-day event enriched with stage programs promises an unforgettable experience for people of all ages. This year, for the 32nd time, Buda Castle will be transformed into a festive venue for the celebration of crafts and craftsmen from all over the Carpathian Basin.

Throughout the four-day event, some of the best musicians, singers, storytellers and dancers in Hungary will perform. Szalonna and his Band perform with the Sarjú Band, winners of TV talent show Fölszállott a Páva, while renowned ethno-jazz saxophonist Mihály Dresch plays with strings. Other performers appearing on stage include Karaván Familia and the Szilvia Bognár Quartet, while pop veteran Levente Szörényi will be the special guest of the Söndörgő and Vujicsics bands.
