Hungarian Wizz Air pilot Ferenc Tóth received the gold medal, becoming world champion for the fifth time at this yearʼs FAI World Glider Aerobatic Championships in the Czech Republic.

Tóth placed first in the competition for the fourth consecutive time. Three other pilots of Wizz Air also took part, including fellow Hungarian János Szilágyi, who came in 4th. The 10-day contest featured 22 glider pilots competing against each other in the skies above Zbraslavice.

"At Wizz Air we are proud of our colleagues who represent the elite of their professions and provide excellent services to their passengers," commented András Radó, Wizz Airʼs corporate communications manager.

Tóth won his first glider race in 2000, becoming world champion for the first time three years later, and winning a dozen international competitions since his debut.

SUPPORT THE BUDAPEST BUSINESS JOURNAL

Producing journalism that is worthy of the name is a costly business. For 27 years, the publishers, editors and reporters of the Budapest Business Journal have striven to bring you business news that works, information that you can trust, that is factual, accurate and presented without fear or favor.
Newspaper organizations across the globe have struggled to find a business model that allows them to continue to excel, without compromising their ability to perform. Most recently, some have experimented with the idea of involving their most important stakeholders, their readers.
We would like to offer that same opportunity to our readers. We would like to invite you to help us deliver the quality business journalism you require. Hit our Support the BBJ button and you can choose the how much and how often you send us your contributions.
