According to the website of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the United Nations agency responsible for the promotion of responsible, sustainable and universally accessible tourism, the programs will take place in the Hilton Budapest Castle, with several members of the organization participating, including UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili.

Zoltán Guller, the government commissioner and CEO of the Hungarian Tourism Agency, will also participate.

The events will feature tourism-related talks, such as one entitled “What are Venture Capitalists Looking for When Investing in Innovative Tourism Products?”, moderated by CNNʼs Europe Editor Nina dos Santos. After several innovation and tourism-related events, the day will be concluded by an invitation-only dinner on the Európa Boat.

The celebration will also feature the announcement of the semi-finalists of the 1st UNWTO Tourism Startup Competition, launched by the UNWTO and Globalia. The competitionʼs aim is to give visibility to startups with innovative ideas capable of revolutionizing ways of travel and enjoying tourism.

“Harnessing innovation and digital advances provides tourism with opportunities to improve inclusiveness, local community empowerment and efficient resource management, amongst other objectives within the wider sustainable development agenda,” said Pololikashvili.
