Russian airlines UTair yesterday re-launched its scheduled flight between Moscow and Hévíz-Balaton Airport, after the route was canceled for one and an half years, Hungarian news agency MTI reported this morning. The airline said the route can be re-instated as Russian tourism is picking up following an economic slowdown in the country.

On its first flight after the re-launch, UTair carried 126 visitors on board to Hévíz, home of one of the world’s biggest thermal lakes and a popular location among Russian tourists. By November, UTair is scheduled to operate 17 flights between the two cities.

The flights will bring more than 2,000 Russian visitors to Heviz, where they will spend about 8,000 guest nights, the townʼs deputy-mayor, József János Kepli, told Hungarian news agency MTI.
