Hungarian MPs spent HUF 115 mln on their on-duty cars in the first half of the year, by filling them with gas for some HUF 82 mln and getting them serviced for HUF 33.5 mln, at taxpayers’ expense, Hungarian daily Magyar Nemzet reported today.

The daily’s report is based on a chart published on the Hungarian Parliament’s official website by National Economy Minister Mihály Varga in response to a query by Socialist Attila Mesterházy.

Ministers, state secretaries and deputy state secretaries own 114 on-duty vehicles in total, the paper added.

The Prime Minister’s Office spent the most on vehicle gas, precisely HUF 21 mln, while the Ministry of Human Capacities spent HU 18 mln and the Ministry of National Development spent HUF 10 mln, according to the paper.
