MNB: Net EU transfers exceed €1 bln in December
Net transfers from the European Union to Hungary totaled €1.029 bln in December 2014, pushing the net inflow from the EU in Q4 to €2.100 bln, the December balance of payment data published by the National Bank of Hungary (MNB) this morning reveals.
According to calculations made by Hungarian news agency MTI based on the monthly balance of payment figures, net EU transfers in 2014 amounted to €5.44 bln, while net inflow in 2014 was down by a preliminary €1.4 bln from the preceding year's €6.90 bln.
The balance of payment figures are accrual-based figures, reflecting the use of the transfers, the data reveal. The monthly data include estimates and are available on the MNB website only until the publication of the respective quarterly figures.
The first reading of Q4 2014 balance of payment data is scheduled to be published by the central bank on March 26.
