Győr-Gönyű port to get HUF 6.5 bln investment

Telco

An investment of HUF 6.5 bln (€ 20.7 mln) at the Győr-Gönyü port on the Danube could start in January and wind up by November of next year, according to regional daily Kisalföld.

When the investment is completed, German steelmaker Wuppermann can start building a HUF 30 bln galvanizing plant at the site. The company wants to employ 170 people at the base, the paper said.

Before Wuppermann agreed to set up a base at the site, Hungary was in danger of losing European Union support for the infrastructure investments there, as the grant money was contingent on the utilisation of the port.
