BUX up 1.35% at noon as positive correction lifts European blue-chip indices

The Budapest Stock Exchange's BUX index was up 1.35% at noon on Wednesday as a positive correction of recent sharp losses lifted blue-chip indices throughout Europe.

The BUX commenced afternoon trade 240.47 points higher at 18,087.38 on a composite exchange turnover of HUF 3.88bn. 

BSE blue-chips stood as follows at Wednesday noon: 

OTP Bank was up 1.96% at HUF 4,170 on an exchange-high turnover of HUF 2.97bn;

Oil and gas company MOL was up 1.70% at HUF 16,475 on a turnover of HUF 623m;

Magyar Telekom was up 1.20% at HUF 508 on a turnover of HUF 109m;

Drug company Richter was up 0.29% at HUF 34,500 on an identical turnover of HUF 109m.

Major European blue-chip stock indices were in positive territory at midday, with London's FTSE-100 up 1.86% and Frankfurt's Xetra DAX up 2.25%.

The BUX's central and eastern European high-cap peer indices were also higher at noon, with Prague's PX-50 up 1.55% and Warsaw's WIG-20 up 1.92%.
