BUX tumbles as bourses bleed across the board
The Budapest Stock Exchange's blue-chip BUX index closed Wednesday trade down 4.17% to 16,865.49, registering sharp losses sustained at global bourses on Tuesday, when the BSE was closed for a long holiday weekend.
The BUX declined 734.58 points on a composite exchange turnover of HUF 24.32bn, fluctuating in a 3.6% range between an intra-session high of 17,279.04 at 9:15 a.m. and an intra-session low of 16,653.95 at shortly before 11:30 a.m.
BSE blue-chips stood as follows at Wednesday's closing bell:
Oil and gas company MOL lost 6.66% to HUF 16,055 on a turnover of HUF 5.88bn;
OTP Bank declined 6.24% to HUF 3,320 on an exchange-high turnover of HUF 13.86bn;
Magyar Telekom lost 1.17% to HUF 507 on a turnover of HUF 2.54bn;
Drug company Richter gained 0.25% to HUF 35,695 on a turnover of HUF 895m.
The BSE Big Four generated 95.3% of the exchange's composite Wednesday turnover.
