Visitors to conferences and other events accounted for 4.2% of guests and 6% of guest nights at Hungarian hotels in January-August, according to figures published on the website of the Hungarian Congress Office (MKI).

About 290,000 guests attended nearly 30,000 events at Hungarian hotels in January-August and spent 580,000 guest nights in these hotels, the office, a division of state tourism agency Magyar Turizmus Zrt, said. 34.6% of the events were corporate events. Foreigners accounted for 29.5% of event guests, with their ratio rising to about 50% at trade fairs. The Central Statistics Office (KSH) has been collecting and publishing figures on conference, trade fair and event tourism on a monthly basis since January 2006.
