Hungary's National Information Infrastructure Development Institute (NIIF) will inaugurate a HUF 2.1 billion high-capacity hybrid optical network for higher-education and research institutions, the institute informed MTI.
The institute noted that European Union funding was used to develop the network, which will give such institutions in Hungary access to the most up-to-date point-to-point connections.
The network development is part of a bigger electronic infrastructure development project run between 2009 and 2011 by NIIF. That project, named HBONE+ has a total budget of HUF 4.2 billion. (MTI – Econews)
