Audi Hungária starts one-week shutdown

Audi Hungária Motor will shut down production for one week from Monday, in line with the halt at its parent company, German car maker Audi, spokesman Peter Lore told MTI on Monday.

Audi Hungária announced the shutdown, because of falling orders, at the end of January. The shutdown will affect 5,500 workers.

Audi Hungária shut down production for two and four weeks -- depending on product type -- in the middle of December.

Audi Hungária made 1.9 million engines in 2008, level with the number in 2007. It assembled 60,000 vehicles, 6% more than in 2007. (MTI-Econews)
