Latvia's retail trade slumped 8.5% from a year earlier in February, following a revised 9.5% tumble in the previous month, data from the Riga-based Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) showed.
There were decreases in sales of cultural and recreation goods, other household equipment, information and communication equipment, food, beverages and tobacco, and other goods. In addition, trade not in stores, stalls or markets continued to fall, despite a sharp increase in on-line trade.
On a monthly basis, retail sales rose 4.4% in February, partially recovering from a 5.2% slump in January.
