There are about 800,000 cube houses in Hungary, one in four Hungarians lives in one, and the majority of the adult population would not refuse to live in a so-called Kádár cube, according to a representative survey commissioned by BMI Bramac, writes business daily Világgazdaság.

The dominant type of detached house in the Hungarian rural landscape is a square building with a floor area of around 100 sqm, usually a one-story tent-roofed building, the construction of which was typical from the early 1960s to the '80s.

Some 23% of those surveyed still live in a cube house, and 49% have lived in one at some point. After modern, one-story houses (47%), this is the second most sought-after type of house among buyers, according to the survey.
