About 40% of European Union citizens aged between 30 and 34 had a tertiary level of education in 2017, according to a report by Eurostat, the statistics agency of the European Union.

In five EU Member States, at least half of those aged 30-34 had a tertiary level of education, with the highest shares in Lithuania (58%), Cyprus (56%), and Ireland (55%). In contrast, the lowest proportions of those having completed a tertiary education were recorded in Romania (26%), Italy (27%), and Croatia (29%).

In Hungary, about 32% of citizens in this age group had completed an education at a tertiary level.

In 2017, while 45% of women in the EU aged between 30 and 34 had completed tertiary education, the proportion was 35% for men. In the past few years, the percentage of men with tertiary education has increased in the EU, but at a slower pace than it has for women, leading to a greater gender gap.
