Holiday house market booming

Deals

The holiday houses market (covering dwellings used mainly on weekends for recreational purposes), has not expanded significantly until now. But this seems set to change, as potential buyers started to look for real estate in this category.

The number of potential buyers looking for holiday houses for sale has grown year-on-year by 30% and doubled compared to two years ago, according to the latest database figures by real estate broker site ingatlan.com.

The most searched for properties are at Lake Balaton and Lake Velence, where searches increased by 20% and 11% respectively, ingatlan.com expert László Balogh told business news portal vg.hu. The average price on the south shore of Balaton is HUF 363,000 per sqm, while it is HUF 315,000 on the north shore.

The cheapest holiday houses at Balaton are between HUF 2.2 million-4.9 million, while at lake Velence, HUF 7.5 million will buy you a weekend house with a 590 sqm garden.

Ingatlan.com registered a price increase of 5% y.o.y. in August this year on the northern shore of Lake Balaton, and 29% on the southern shore.
