Apartment rental market booming in Hungary

The number of apartments for rent has significantly grown in Hungary during the last two weeks. In Budapest, the offer is 800 apartments higher, according to real estate site ingatlan.com.

An analysis published by online news portal napi.hu shows that currently more than 10,000 apartments are available for rent in Hungary, which is a 11% increase on two weeks previously.

Many owners are expecting huge demand, as the start of the academic year on September 1 is closing in, but prices are said to be well above what most family budgets can afford.

Average monthly apartment rents in major university cities, according to ingatlan.com, amount to HUF 150,000 in Budapest, HUF 100,000 in Szeged, HUF 95,000 in Győr, HUF 85,000 in Debrecen, HUF 83,000 in Pécs, and HUF 70,000 in Miskolc.
