Introduction
The Budapest Business Journal’s annual English-language Invented in Hungary publication looks at how the switch from "Made in Hungary" was put into practice, and represents an evolution of our former Research & Development magazine. When Hungary began to build back from the crippling effects of the 2007-2008 global financial crisis and the recession that followed, it placed a premium on attracting manufacturing jobs. As its economy has matured, and ever more digitization and automation come into the mix, Hungary has increasingly sought to add what it calls “valued-added” jobs, future-proof roles that will excite Hungarians, offer them a development path and prevent a brain-drain away from the country.
