Promotion: Patara in Tata brings history to life

Social

PROMOTION: Let’s take part again in the historic events of the 16th-17th century, let’s relive the Turkish-Hungarian battle! On May 27-29 we can indulge in Europe’s most prestigious historic festival from the Turkish era: The battle of 1597 comes to live again in Tata, at the Old Lake.

The siege of Tata, reenacted every year, evokes the first successful experiment using the special weapon of its age, "Patara" in Hungary. Contemporary clothing, genuine military equipment and authentically arranged battle scenes guarantee a unique experience for the audience. It’s like real time travel!

As in yearʼs past, the "Patara in Tata" Historic Festival awaits its guests with special programs and events suitable for the whole family. You can engage in the daily life of the 16th-17th century, put your knowledge of historic crafts to test or try to prepare the favorite dishes of the post-middle ages. While enjoying the feast, you can quench your thirst with famous Hungarian wines, fruity sorbets or cool spring water.

Come with us down memory lane and visit some of the exciting exhibitions: Watch breathtaking fire jugglers and horse shows or enjoy the performance of the most beautiful belly dancers while you taste delicious Turkish coffee. You can even visit the closely guarded Harem, then let yourself bewitched by the bustle of the authentic fair with local craftsmen, jugglers and the comtemporary play of the "Sólymos Gallants". Visitors can also join the "Táncház" (a casual, Hungarian folk-dance event) with the participation of 300 folk dancers as part of the third International Folkdance Convention.

Patara in Tata has been enchanting visitors for more than nine years, with more than 400 participants and performers from Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland, Finland, Germany, Austria and Italy, as well as hundreds of other contributors from the neighboring countries. Following last year’s success, the festival starts with a "Student Patara", happening on "Day 0", just before the actual festival weekend.

SUPPORT THE BUDAPEST BUSINESS JOURNAL

Producing journalism that is worthy of the name is a costly business. For 27 years, the publishers, editors and reporters of the Budapest Business Journal have striven to bring you business news that works, information that you can trust, that is factual, accurate and presented without fear or favor.
Newspaper organizations across the globe have struggled to find a business model that allows them to continue to excel, without compromising their ability to perform. Most recently, some have experimented with the idea of involving their most important stakeholders, their readers.
We would like to offer that same opportunity to our readers. We would like to invite you to help us deliver the quality business journalism you require. Hit our Support the BBJ button and you can choose the how much and how often you send us your contributions.
