DO NOT USE TOO SMALL

Economy Minister Mihály Varga said yesterday that he did not think tax office chief Ildikó Vida was among the persons blacklisted by the U.S. immigration authority. Varga told a press conference that he is supposed to receive all information affecting the work of the tax office chief, and he had not been informed about any such restriction.

He said in response to another question that he had not specifically asked Vida or any other tax office official if they were affected by the U.S. entry ban. "If anyone is obliged to provide information in this issue, it is the American side," he added. The United States recently banned six unnamed Hungarians, allegedly including government officials, from entering the country, saying that they were guilty of corruption.
