Varga on official visit to South Korea
National Economy Minister Mihály Varga met with South Korea's trade minister Yoon Sang-jick and the governor of the country's central bank, Kim Choong-soo, at the start of an official three-day visit to South Korea on Monday.
The talks with Yoon Sang-jick touched on the expansion of the two countries' cooperation in the area of energetics, including nuclear energy, Varga said. Ties could also be forged in the area of military technology, he added.
Varga also discussed broadening the financial cooperation between Hungary and Korea at talks with deputy prime minister and finance minister Hyun Oh-Seok, as well as the role Korean partners can play in financing Hungary's debt, the economy minister said.
Varga is having a breakfast meeting with representatives of the governing party this morning. Afterward, he will meet the head of the Korean Chamber of Trade and Industry and give a presentation to Korean business representatives on the outlook for the Hungarian economy. He will meet with the head of Samsung and Hankook, both companies with large manufacturing bases in Hungary, later in the day.
