The Hungarian government has agreed to widen the areas of cooperation in nuclear energy with Iran, Hungaryʼs Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjártó told the press following talks in Budapest today with Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ali Akbar Salehi, who is also head of the countryʼs Atomic Energy Organization, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.

Szijjártó told the news agency that the two sides had agreed to expand the training of Iranian nuclear experts, set up research and development opportunities for the peaceful employment of nuclear energy, and assess how Hungarian companies can get involved in the extraction of Iranʼs hydrocarbon reserves in the future.

Iran’s vice president stressed the importance of developing Hungarian-Iranian relations following the conclusion of an international agreement last year to control Iran’s nuclear program, MTI reported.
