A memorial has been erected in Siófok to pay tribute to a community of 500 local Jews who were deported to Nazi death camps in 1944, origo.hu reported.

Ilan Mor, Israel’s ambassador to Hungary, said that “there cannot be too many commemorations of the Holocaust, since a vast number of people were sent to death from Hungary, too”.
