Serb PM: We donʼt build fences
“Some are fencing themselves off, not Serbia,” Serbiaʼs Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said, according to 444.hu, in response to the start of construction of a temporary border fence at the Serbian-Hungarian border.
Vucic considers Serbia an open country with virtually no borders and he also believes it treats immigrants as best as can be reasonably expected.
The standard procedure when an immigrant is caught by the Serbian police is to give him/her a temporary permit to move freely within the country for 72 hours.
According to Serbian home secretary Nebojsa Stefanovic, Serbia is a transit country where only 388 individuals applied for asylum so far this year.
