Rogán to become minister of brand new ministry
Antal Rogán, who has recently been named Political Cabinet Chief of ruling Fidesz party, could become a minister of his own ministry, as Cabinet Chief János Lázár today submitted a bill to Parliament that would establish an independent ministry, the Prime Ministerʼs Cabinet Office for “general political coordination”, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.
Lázár is the minister of the Prime Minister’s Office, an entity with ministerial status.
According to MTI, Lázár submitted a separate bill that would add a chapter for the new ministry to the 2015 budget. Funding for the establishment of the ministry will "be arranged in the governmentʼs sphere of competence, in line with effective regulations," according to the text of the bill, MTI added.
When Rogán was named Political Cabinet Chief, speculation began in the Hungarian press that Lázár may resign if Rogán is added to the Prime Minister’s Office and the hierarchy of the two could not be resolved. Although both politicians deny such claims, Hungarian news reports have suggested that the relationship between the two politicians is tenuous.
