Rogán: Liberal parties want Hungary out of EU
The European Liberal Party at its caucus meeting next week will propose the suspension of Hungary’s voting rights in the European Union, and will eventually urge the country’s exclusion from the EU, political cabinet chief Antal Rogán said yesterday (October 4) in an interview with state-owned Kossuth Rádió.
The head of the political cabinet said that the Liberal Party would propose these measures, as migration-friendly liberals do not agree with the Hungarian decision of “protecting the borders of Europe and Hungary”. Commenting further, Rogán said that the Hungarian government would “fend it off”, as it is an “unacceptable initiative”.
He also added that he “is afraid” that this liberal opinion is also shared by some of the Hungarian leftist opposition parties, for instance the Democratic Coalition (DK), led by former Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány.
