Sanader to be questioned about role in INA-MOL scandal today

Former Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader is due to be questioned by investigators on Tuesday about allegations he received €10 million in bribes to allow Hungary's MOL to take control of Croatian oil company INA, reports.

Sanader will be questioned by anti-corruption investigators in Zagreb's Remetinec Prison, where he has been held for a month and a half after Austria extradited him to face allegations of corruption and abuse of office. Cedo Prodanovic, one of his lawyers, said the questioning would start early afternoon.

USKOK, Croatia's national anti-corruption office, alleges that apart from Sanader, former Deputy Prime Minister Damir Polancec and MOL CEO Zsolt Hernádi were also involved in irregularities that were to have made it possible for MOL to take over the management rights in INA.

Both Sanader and Hernádi have denied the corruption charges.
