Both MaSzSz and Liga Szakszervezetek, two of the largest Hungarian trade unions are supporting the initiative. The Supreme Court (“Kúria”) approved the referendum initiated by Railway Workers’ Union officer József Bodnár, who justified his scheme using the argument of gender equality, referring to women’s existing right to retire after 40 years of employment.
