Police: Unauthorized border crossings drop to 277
The number of unauthorized border crossings has dropped to 277 today, while on Tuesday the number was 366 and on Monday 9,380 such cases were registered, a chart published today on the official website on the Hungarian Police shows.

New border laws took effect on Tuesday, technically closing the Hungarian-Serbian border. Late yesterday, on the second day of the closure, refugees waiting in the long line to enter Hungary started throwing things at the Hungarian police, who responded with teargas and water cannons.
News reports from the border crossing of Horgos-Röszke suggest that only a few hundred refugees are there in the border towns, while the majority of refugees are modifying their routes and are traveling to Croatia. Croatia announced on Tuesday that it would welcome refugees.
Noting the modified routes of refugees, Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán yesterday said that the Hungarian government will erect a fence at a “certain point” of the Croatian border.
