Orbán meets with president of Iraqi Kurdistan Region

Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Iraqi Kurdistan Regional President Masoud Barzani met in the Hungarian Parliament yesterday.

At a joint press conference following talks between the two, Orbán stressed the importance of stability in the region for Europeans as well as locals, and noted Hungary’s contribution toward the fight against the Islamic State.

He welcomed Hungarian-Kurd economic cooperation, calling Hungarian oil and gas company MOL the flagship of the partnership, noting that MOL had remained in the region even during the most difficult and riskiest of times.
