Orbán: Hungarians agree that ‘immigration is dangerous’
The majority of Hungarians agree with the government that immigration is dangerous, and the national consultation is designed to offer the government solutions to stave off this threat, Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said this morning in his regular fortnightly interview with state-owned Kossuth Radio.
Commenting on the defacing of billboards the government installed a week ago, the prime minister said it was done by a “liberal minority”, which counters the viewpoint of the majority of Hungarians.
According to Orbán, the billboards put a special emphasis on how Hungary is a “friendly” country with high standards of “hospitality”, however, immigrants coming here need to obey “some rules”.
Hungary cannot provide jobs for all the immigrants that arrive here, and that is what the billboard campaign is about, the prime minister added.
