Ombudsman presses for high-court review of latest constitutional amendments

Issues

The ombudsman has turned to the Constitutional Court to initiate a review of provisions in the fourth constitutional amendment, the ombudsman’s office told MTI on Tuesday. Máté Szabó has requested the review of parts concerning stipulations which took effect on April 1, citing formal and procedural inadequacies, his office said in a statement. The ombudsman cited it as a serious procedural shortcoming that no plenary debate had been held on the provisions. The top court is to make a decision about the ombudsman’s initiative within 30 days.
