Hungary’s State Audit Office (ÁSZ) launched preparations to review the financial management of the National Bank of Hungary’s (MNB) foundations, according to reports.

Under amendments the Hungarian Parliament passed yesterday such reviews are allowed, ÁSZ said yesterday, according to Hungarian news agency MTI. ÁSZ is scheduled to conduct inspections every six months, at times to be announced, and publish the findings, MTI added.

After Hungary’s Constitutional Court blocked legislation approved by Parliament but not signed by President János Áder attempting to shield the finances of the central bank, the MNB proposed the involvement of the State Audit Office (ÁSZ) in a review of the foundations of the central bank.
