Hungary, Taiwan in sports cooperation deal
With an agreement signed yesterday in Budapest, Taiwan and Hungary will be entering into student exchange programs and joint research development in sports sciences – while also hoping to improve certain sports programs in the countries.
National Taiwan Sport University (NTSU) president Chin-hsung Kao was on hand to sign the agreement with Semmelweis University Rector Ágoston Szél, and the two announced that the first student exchange program is slated for March 2014, when development of a Chinese-language coach training program will be launched. The agreement also provides for cooperation on areas of sport including coaching, medicine, education and management.
Kao commented that the agreement should be mutually beneficial “because Hungary is interested in sports that Taiwan is good at, such as archery, table tennis, baseball and taekwondo.” (Hold on a minute – baseball?)
Meanwhile, “Taiwan can make strides in fencing, gymnastics, swimming, water polo, wrestling and judo, which have generally been Hungary’s strongest events in international competitions.”
