Government launches new billboard campaign

History

The government has launched a new public information effort to promote their work, using billboards and online content, in a campaign that cost Hungarian taxpayers HUF 600 million, news portal 444.hu reported yesterday.

The text in the speech bubble says: "We donʼt want illegal immigrants!"

The latest campaign speaks to Hungarian reforms and how these reforms are helping the Hungarian people. Posters include individuals or families with speech bubbles containing such messages as: “GDP growth in Hungary is greater than in the EU!” and “I saved a lot on the utilities reduction!”, or “We don’t want illegal immigrants!”. Under each message is the campaignʼs motto: “Hungarian reforms work!”

The campaign website, at mrm.kormany.hu, lists many of what the government considers positive developments in Hungary, saying that these changes have taken place as a result of economic reforms. Hungarian news agency MTI reported earlier that government spokesperson Zoltán Kovács believes the reforms are in fact working well and that “the country has benefited from having chosen its own path" by rejecting "austerity measures proposed by international organizations".
