Ukraine’s gold reserves rank 47th in the world
Ukraine’s gold reserves hit 36.1 tons by the end of May, ranking the 47th in the world, an official of the National Bank of Ukraine said Tuesday. Last year, Ukraine abolished a tax on sales of scrap precious metals to the central bank. As a result, people were willing to sell gold directly to the state, bypassing dealers, said Vera Rychakovskaya, deputy governor of the central bank.
