Resysten gets regulatory approval in Romania

World

Resysten, a company that manufactures an antimicrobial coating that stops the spread of harmful pathogens, including hospital superbug MRSA and COVID-19 on any surface, has received regulatory approval from Romania’s Ministry of Health as a PT2 disinfectant, giving way for its official launch in the country, according to a press release sent to the Budapest Business Journal.

Resysten's coating was originally developed in Budapest to combat hospital-acquired infections and the spread of seasonal flu in public transport networks.

Early adopters include Telekom, Audi, Arriva, Mylan Pharmaceutical, Philip Morris International, Stadler, Cognizant, Europart, SAP, the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague and Budapest’s airport and Metro transport network (including all 27km of its escalator handrail), as well as many of Hungary’s public hospitals.

Upon contact with light, the sprayed solution produces free radicals which prevent the presence of pathogens on any surface. It has been developed to integrate into any surface on a molecular level, meaning that it cannot be removed by conventional cleaning methods and so it remains active for up to a year. These two key properties result in surfaces that protect users and their environment from the spread of contamination.

Shajjad Rizvi, global CEO of Resysten, says: “We’re immensely proud to bring the cutting edge technology of Resysten to Romania. Over the last two years, Resysten has become a major player in the fight against COVID-19 and other harmful pathogens, including the rising global threat of MRSA. Along with our partners in Romania, we’re excited to help Romania in getting back to normal life with confidence.”
