Report: Andy Vajna is the best-known ‘oligarch’
Andy Vajna (pictured), government commissioner in charge of the Hungarian film industry, is the best-known ‘oligarch’ in Hungary, according to a Publicus survey entitled “What do you know about oligarchs?”, Hungarian online daily origo.hu reported on Saturday.
Following Vajna, the second most-known oligarch in Hungary is Lajos Simicska, whose friendship with Prime Minister Viktor Orbán recently ended in a public falling out.
The third best-known powerful person is Árpád Habony, who is reportedly a consultant for the Prime Minister, though government officials deny claims that Habony is working with the governing party.
Fourth comes Lőrinc Mészáros, the billionaire mayor of Orbán’s hometown Felcsút, who once said that the “Good Lord, luck and Viktor Orbán” have played a major role in him becoming so successful.
The sixth on origo.huʼs list is the Prime Minister’s son-in-law István Tiborcz.
