PM names replacement for National Development Minister

Visits

Prime Minister Viktor Orban on Wednesday informed the house speaker of his wish to recommend Zsuzsanna Nemeth, deputy-CEO of the Hungarian Development Bank (MFB), to the President for the post of National Development Minister.

Former National Development Minister Tamas Fellegi asked to resign earlier in December to concentrate on talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Prime Minister Viktor Orban accepted Mr Fellegi’s resignation and appointed him a minister without portfolio effective December 15.

Hungary is seeking financial assistance from the IMF and the European Union as a precautionary measure that would allow the country to continue to finance itself on the market. Mr Fellegi is heading the Hungarian delegation at the talks.
