Matolcsy’s central bank appointment doubtful

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán cast doubts over the widely expected appointment of Economy Minister György Matolcsy as the next central bank governor Friday. Government sources speculated when asked by Napi Gazdaság Online that the most likely scenario for the time being is Matolcsy staying as minister, especially since his parting would likely have meant reorganizing the economy ministry, something that seems a risky venture hardly a year before the next general elections.
