China, Hungary vow to step up partnership
China and Hungary vowed here Monday to further their cooperation in fields such as investment, high-tech, trade and infrastructure in an effort to step up the friendly and cooperative partnership.
In talks between Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and visiting Hungarian Prime Minister Gyurcsány Ferenc, the two sides pledged to maintain the high level exchanges and intensify the consultations and dialogues at various levels to increase political mutual trust, according to a press briefing from the Chinese Foreign Ministry released after the talks. “The continuous development of China-Hungary ties serves the fundamental and long-term interests of the two countries as well as the two peoples”, Wen told Gyurcsány, expressing his appreciation to the Hungarian government in developing relations with China as well as its adherence to the one-China policy and supports for China’s peaceful reunification process.
Gyurcsány said that Hungary values China’s important role in the international community and hopes to draw on China’s experience to boost national economy and cement bilateral cooperation. Hungary will stick to its one-China principle and oppose to the Taiwan Independence in any form, Gyurcsány promised. The Hungarian Prime Minister called for the two sides to work closer in fields like trade, finance, information, logistics and biological technology. He expressed his welcome for the Chinese businessmen to increase investment in Hungary.
Before holding talks with Wen, Gyurcsány also met with Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong. He said that Hungary attaches great importance to the ties with China and hopes the activities like the “Hungary Festival in China”, which would be held in major Chinese cities between Sept. 2007 to April 2008, could help boost the friendship between the two peoples.
Gyurcsány arrived in China on Sunday. It is his second visit to China. Apart from Beijing, he will also visit Shanghai, China’s financial powerhouse. (xinhuanet.com)
