Accountability commissioner Gyula Budai is the highest paid government commissioner and MP, with a gross monthly salary of more than HUF 2.2 million, MTI reports citing political daily Népszabadság.

Budai earns more than parliament's chair László Kövér, who draws a monthly HUF 2.1 million, nearly HUF 500,000 more than Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, and about HUF 900,000 more than deputy prime minister Tibor Navracsics.

Parliament lowered MPs’ salaries in June, but the change has not applied to government commissioners, MTI's corrispondent remarks.
