The Hungarian government strives for a strategic partnership with Kuwait, Peter Szijjártó, state secretary in charge of foreign affairs at the PM’s office, told MTI on Monday, speaking on the phone from Kuwait City.
Szijjártó left for Kuwait on Sunday to discuss ways for Hungarian companies to get involved in the implementation of Kuwait’s national development plan. Szijjártó, who chairs the Hungarian-Kuwaiti joint economic committee, will also present major investment opportunities in Hungary, and hold talks on expanding cooperation in health and energy.
Szijjártó was due to meet undersecretaries Khalid Al-Jarallah of the Foreign Ministry and Khalifa Hamada of the Finance Ministry, and senior officials of Kuwait’s development agencies.
The state secretary will also open a meeting of the Kuwaiti Chamber of Commerce and Industry to focus on the development of inter-company ties. The Hungarian-Kuwaiti joint economic committee is to hold its inaugural meeting in March next year in Budapest.
