Turkey in focus at local business chamber event
The Hajdu-Bihar County Chamber of Commerce and Industry put Hungary's economic ties with Turkey in the spotlight at an event in Debrecen yesterday.
Sakir Fakili, Turkey's ambassador to Hungary, praised the government's policy of opening up to markets in the east. He added that Hungary was one of just 12-13 countries with which Turkey had signed a strategic agreement.
Bilateral trade between Hungary and Turkey has increased five-fold since 2002, and untapped opportunities still exist in the tourism and construction sectors, it was noted at the event. The prime ministers of Hungary and Turkey will meet on February 24, and a presidential meeting will take place in March.
