Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó delivered 200,000 doses of coronavirus vaccine Hungary is donating to Montenegro to Podgorica on Monday.

Speaking at a joint press conference with his Montenegrin counterpart, Djordje Radulovic, Szijjártó said Hungary's vaccine rollout, which is "among the most successful and fastest in Europe", now allows the country to assist others. He noted that the shipment of Sinopharm jabs was the largest donation of vaccines Montenegro has received so far.

He added that an accelerated inoculation campaign in Montenegro could allow the country to refocus its attention on integration with Europe.

The minister said talks on an investment protection agreement between Hungary and Montenegro would start on July 21.

Fielding questions, Szijjártó said Hungary's Hunguest is undertaking a HUF 2 billion-2.5 bln hotel project in Montenegro supported by a HUF 1 bln grant from the Hungarian government.

He said OTP Bank, Hungary's biggest commercial lender, is market leader in Montenegro, which could give impetus to Hungarian investments on the Adriatic coast.

Szijjártó also added that Magar Eximbank has opened a EUR 85 million credit line to support partnerships between businesses in Hungary and Montenegro.

Radulovic acknowledged the support of the Visegrád Group, and especially Hungary, in supporting the European integration of countries in the Western Balkans.
