Hungary to call tenders for HUF 500 bln in road construction by year-end
The Hungarian government is scheduled to call tenders for HUF 500 bln in road construction projects this September, starting in November and December, and affecting a total of 220 km of roads, state secretary for transport László Tasó said at a press conference yesterday, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.
Hungary hopes to get funding from the European Unionʼs "Juncker" investment plan to expand the divided highway that runs between Budapest and the western border of the country from two to three lanes, but it could weigh the use of state monies if the funding fails to materialize, the state secretary reportedly said.
