Hungary attaches great importance to developing relations with Azerbaijan, MP and Head of the Hungarian-Azerbaijani Inter-parliamentary Friendship Group Márton Gyöngyösi told a member of that country’s parliament yesterday, according to Azerbaijan state news agency AZERTAC.

The two MPs discussed the further development of relations between the two countries, and Gyöngyösi insisted that he would try to increase ties between Hungary and Azerbaijan, AZERTAC reported.

Hungary hopes to help Azerbaijan in removing visa requirements for EU countries, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said at the sixth meeting of the Azerbaijan-Hungary Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation in Baku last month.

Following that meeting, the Hungarian Eximbank initiated talks on financing a €500 million railway project in Azerbaijan.
